as far as I understand, you are trying to build Samba 2.2.5
from source. Any reason why you don't simply use the 2.2.8a
precompiled version supplied by HP as patch?

Oh, and regarding your mpe/patch.sh error... it looks strange
to me that the patch.sh script performs a "cd" to /SAMBA/PUB if
you unpacked the tar.Z files unter some subdirectory similar to
.../build/samba-2.2.5/source before. Don't have an explanation
for this without seeing more details, though.
