If ou are in a production situation, where you have prep/link
modules in a test environment, then it get moved/repreped/linked in
a beta environmnet, then it gets moved/repreped/linked in
a production environment (staged) and finally moved / renamed
at production install time -- well, by then the create date of
the file is not the same as prep time.
 
Another thread hinted at one other thing we do .. for major
releases we update the version variable in a RL. This can be
shown by the program at run time.
