I would like to draw the attention of this list to an article
that appeared in the August 17, 1998 issue of PCWEEK to
page 58 titled "The Great Microsoft Engineer Scam" by
John Taschek.

 http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/opinion/0817/17wide.html

A certification process should be a cumulative process
where preliminary knowledge is used to acquire further
knowledge and wisdom. Wisdom allows reflection and the
key ingredient here is time. A cerification process should
not be looked at as a shortcut or it will lose its credibility.
I personally require a face to face meeting with someone
whom I'm about to enter into a professional relationship with
that will require a daily give and take. Attitude is everything.!
Paper references are important but its the references from people
who have worked with this person under stressfull situations
where I place the most credence.
Anyway, I believe any certification process should be by HP
regarding MPE and the process should be based on the successfull
completion of a curriculum of classes(with tests), much like a university.
The program will then have a reputation of high integrity and its
graduates will be recognized as masters of their trade(face to face
meetings aside).
