Jeff Kell used it several times on 2 different machines (918 and 967) here
at Xavier with reasonable success, but I don't think there was any magic to
it - if there is, I'm sure Jeff will share it.:-)

Let's define what is the problem with a little more detail.
Some patches aren't meant for patch/ix and stage/ix. Some patches
have had trouble with patch/ix depending on details of the situation.
However, many patches stage really easily.

Hints I'm aware of:
- Be sure to run it from something other than the console.
- I recall there is a patch for patch/ix that came out soon after 5.5.
- Be sure the current group is in the HPPATH for manager.sys.
- It may help to only put the patches you want to install in the install
group.
- You need enough disc space on ldev 1.

I'm sure others will have more.
