I am using MAILNM (freeware on the Telemon FTP site, version 1.59 and
tried 1.62) to perform simple mailings from the HP3000 to our Microsoft
Exchange mail server. Yesterday something went very wrong. Mail that
was correctly addressed was incorrectly routed to the wrong mail boxes
on the Exchange system. The Exchange message header will indicate the
proper recipient and reference the proper attachment (HTML file), but it
got delivered to the wrong address.
The basics of the process I am performing is as follows:
Run report job on HP3000 that creates individual HTML files for each
persons part of the report (approx 125 files).
These files are created in an HTML group.
Another job is constantly monitoring this group for any new files (LISTF
@, 6).
When there are files, it processes them one at a time and calls
HPCICOMMAND to process the command file
MAILNM. This command file has all the static parameters set up for the
program. Processing continues through the list until the end. Then the
list is re-read and the files are purged.
Command File
USER DEFINED COMMAND FILE: MAILNM.COMMANDS.CORP
parm TO=$null, SUBJECT="No subject", MSG=" "
mailnm.pub.eng ;INFO="-t !TO -f [log in to unmask] -h
BOYLEMAIL -q -s '!SUBJECT' !MSG"
OBSERVATION - Although not always the case, the mis-directed mail is
usually directed to the the mailbox of the adjacent person in the list
being processed. I thought this was always the case but discovered that
there may be larger gaps before a piece is sent to the wrong person.
This process was working very well for a couple of months and all of a
sudden yesterday mail was being sent off to incorrect addresses.
THOUGHTS
Is there a timing issue involved with MAILNM since I am calling this
program repeatedly in rapid succession it delivers the incorrect
information to the MS Eschange server?
Are there any other free or inexpensive simple mail programs available
for the HP3000 that allow mail to be sent to an MS Exchange server. I
do not need to receive mail back to the HP, only sent it out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA
