This would drive me stark raving mad - it reminds me of when someone visits
a GeoCities user site -- up comes the ad window each time, telling you about
coming over to GeoCities.
Free Internet comes with a price. In the US, at least three companies now
have come up with a scheme to give away free computers if you buy the
internet access at US$19.95 or more a month. What do you have to put up
with? A portion of your disk is partitioned and loaded with ads targeted at
YOU, and you see them over, and over, and over...
And don't even think about deleting that partition - you then get billed for
the system!
I guess that comes with getting systems into the hands of those that may not
be able to afford them -- but the constant ads get old, real fast. Anything
to make a buck, pound, franc, mark, drachma, euro, <name your currency
here>.
