Southwestern Michigan College, a rural comprehensive community
college is searching for an Executive Director of Computing -
a position which will be responsible for the integration of
administrative and academic computing, information technology,
networking, and infrastructure development. The Executive
Director will report to the Vice President of Instruction.
Demonstrated experience in administrative computing and substantial
familiarity with microcomputer support is mandatory. Substantial
knowledge of current and future trends in education technology is
desired. The college currently operates an HP-3000 968rx.
The Executive Director is expected to provide strong leadership in
the day-to-day management of staff and to actively participate in
network and mainframe systems operations, as well as supervise the
Director of Microcomputer Support. The individual will oversee
planning and execution of major systems implementation and will advise
the Vice President for Instruction on issues of resource allocation as
they pertain to both academic and administrative computing.
Experience in providing computer service in an academic setting is required.
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree in computer science (or related area) and/or
equivalent experience is required. Strong communications, interpersonal,
and team building skills are needed.
