My organization is currently caught in this MPEiX exodus (user & IS folks
alike) as we ponder migration away from MANMAN and its MRP systems to the
new ERP generation of software. HP is making an effort to keep me on the
HP3000. The effort has not been substantial nor has it been overly
consistent, but it is clear that the group I am working with would like to
see us keep (actually upgrade) our current HP3000's. I am working with
several different groups in HP trying to decide if MPEiX can really support
applications like Oracle finance & manufacturing or SAP? Communications
between the different groups could certainly be better, but there does seem
to be a large effort on HP's part to keep the HP3000 alive and well. HP
has groups working with at least the major ERP application & data base
vendors to insure that HP3000 users have alternatives in 3rd party software
that will run on 3000's. In Oracles case, I understand that HP has an
agreement with Oracle that agrees that new Oracle releases will be available
within 90 days of release to UX type systems. This agreement was apparently
renewed recently.

The above information is derived from several months of conversations with
both HP and users. Verify any items pertinent to your needs before
assuming that the information is correct.
