Actually there is such a book in praise of critical thinking and in lamentation
of the non-rational thinking that we humans have persisted in for centuries:
"The Demon-Haunted World: Science As a Candle in the Dark" by Carl Sagan

I pretty much agreed 100% with everything in this book, so you can probably
guess my position on church vs. state issues.
