It's been written and talked about... now you can experience it...

Barring any last minute glitches, the first beta of Samba 1.9.18p10 has been
sent over to Easy Does It Technologies for posting. This is occuring as I
type this message. It will be available later this afternoon Eastern US
Time (about 16:00 to 17:00 -0500), so don't go rushing to get it just yet.
Michael Gueterman will place a post here as to when it is ready for download
(so just, as we say here in the states, "cool your jets a bit").

Should this beta need to be held for any reason, a post will be made here.

This version is the latest, current stable version of Samba/iX. The version
available from Jazz and being shipped with MPE/iX is Samba 1.9.16p9.

Being beta software, we are only including binaries (executables) with this
release, so as to maintain a stable set of source while bugs are being
reported and fixed. When it is released in its final form, Source Code will
be made available.

This version will allow users to delete the "registry hack" (the Registry
Entry which enable clear text password handshaking), speed increases (at
least on our machines) as well as a host of other items. Details can be
found on http://www.sambaix.com.

Beta 1 will be available at http://www.sambaix.com, again later this
afternoon (see above). A Bug Reporting forum has been set up in Discussion
Areas for any reproducible problems you encounter.

There will be a README file included. YOU NEED TO READ THIS FILE PRIOR TO
INSTALLING THE PACKAGE - it contains information regarding what is still not
working properly (very little and should be functional within 1-2 weeks),
and other important information.

We look forward to your feedback!

Best Regards,
Joe
