Right, but can you connect to that port with Telnet coming from the HP3000?

Denys,

It appears that the printer/copier has a windows driver installed which
allows it to listen on port 9100 as that's how it is receiving the prints
from other PCs on the network.

I'm just beginning to wonder if there's something in the HP spool headers
that it's not dealing with.

Cheers,

John

You do not need Telnet installed on the printer, what you are trying to do
is connect to the printer on port 9100, something the printer should be
listening on.

If you cannot connect to that port, find the blockage and resolve that.

Mark,

Pings ok from the HP3000.
Telnet not installed on printer.
Tried cutting down the NPCONFIG entry to the minimum.
Tried powercycling printer.

Still no dice.

:o(

Thanks for the help anyway.

Cheers,
John
