Good for you!
The subject of this thread says it all as far as a top-level executive is
concerned:

No News is Good News (if the common News is BAD News)

An excellent beginning is HP's very own purchase of OpenSkies (whose
world-class airline-oriented software is based on HP3000 business servers
running IMAGE databases for top-notch OLTP performance and reliability).
Have a look at their web site -- a little obnoxious in terms of cookies but
otherwise quite good:
http://www.openskies.com/
In fact, when I visited the OpenSkies folks a couple of months ago, we
talked about the thing that a top executive wants the most when she flies:
"No News is Good News (if the common News is BAD News)". In other words,
an uneventful flight is the best flight (even if you are a test pilot :-)
How many of the top-level executives in your mailing list would prefer to
fly using the barnstorming airplane du jour that requires an onboard
mechanic?

Senior managers are sensible people and they will listen to sensible cases
which are well presented.
Ladies and Gentlemen, the challenge is in: Does your company have a BETTER
case than OpenSkies? If so, please let us know so we can help you present
it to the right audience! (Consolation: Even if your case is not up to the
lofty -- no pun intended -- standards of OpenSkies, as long as you do a
VERY GOOD job with the HP3000 you are eligible :-)
As a token of our HP3000 appreciation, I will be pleased to send a
collectors-item Adager MemoCube to submitters of the best APPLICATION
entries that use the HP3000 as the business-critical IMAGE database server
(whether homegrown or commercial, whether you develop them or use them).
I will help myself to an Adager MemoCube for having come up with OpenSkies.
To borrow an expression from Jim Sartain (of IMAGE/SQL Labs fame and now
R&D Manager at OpenSkies), this was a no-brainer :-)
Way to go, Alan!
