Geez, thanks for all the attention being paid to Canada. Only happens once
in a blue moon, eh?
Actually, our nation is not nearly as fractured in its mainstream
political views as our neighbo(u)rs to the south. There is widespread
consensus, for example, concerning the continued need for a public health
system - the parties only differ on whether or not private health
providers can/should play a role in it. Similarly, on gun control, very
few dispute the necessity - there is no ideological hang-up concerning it
comparable to the 2nd amendment discussion south of the 49th parallel;
again the appropriate extent and means of gun control are the discussion.
Americans would find our Conservative Party sharing approximately equal
values with your liberal Democrats.
Unlike the US credo of Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness, our BNA
Act (Constitution, if you wish) of 1867 puts forth the goals of Peace,
Order & Good Government.
Thanks, Eric
