It seems the problem is a lack of low level formatting on the ST19171N
drives from the distributor. Thanks to a lot of help by members on the list!
After using the SCSI card in my PC to do a format, MPE is able to see the
drives in an UNKNOWN state without errors. Now to get them in the right
volume set and I'm finished.
