  So, in essence, we're talking about a pizza-box like HP3000?  What would
be the problem in getting a used 925, 932, or 917 (if space is limiting)
loading them up with RAM, getting small licenses, and having yourself an
inexpensive system?  How much horsepower do you need on a development
system?

  I could see where a 908 might get expensive if you need the same bang in
a small box.  5.5 still needs a lot of RAM, no?  I think HP would need to
see just how many resources such a beast would need to be inexpensive and
still feasible.  If you start changing components, then you might need new
drivers and hence the same 9000/700 problems you spoke of.
