If on the HP3000 at the MPE colon prompt you enter

        FILE D;DEV=DAT
        FCOPY FROM=SourceFileName;TO=*D

You should get an exact copy of the disc file on the DAT with no labels
etc. This is asuming that the DAT drive on the HP3000 is called DAT, if
it isn't then you'll have to subsistute the correct name.
