There are also two programs that come on the CSL tape (or at any rate they
used to) called DB2DISK and DISK2DB that do esssentially the same thing -
namely copy a dataset to an MPE flat file and vice versa.  And for Interex
members they are FREE!  They do have a couple of quirks, however (hint: "0"
is used as a terminator).

Incidentally, DISK2DB allows one to do all kinds of creative things with
Image and Query.  Copy a set of data to a flat file using "REPORT" and then
copy this data back into a stand-alone detail (created using Adager or
Dbgeneral).  This can then be linked (including using fields that were
"imbedded" in the original dataset) to other datasets and some very complex
processing can be done this way, processing that most people will say "you
have to write a COBOL program to do that".  Essentially the stand-alone
detail acts like a Quiz or QTP Subfile.
