This is a preliminary notice - details still in the works...

UTC is moving our Listserv(tm) server from it's decade-old home here on
utcvm (an IBM 9221-150 VM/ESA machine) to an <ahem> Windows NT machine
running the NT port of Listserv. UTCVM is leaving Bitnet at the end of
the month (no problem for the readership unless you are also a Bitnet
subscriber). UTCVM is going offline altogether the end of 1996 to be
replaced by a Sun Ultra-SPARC something-or-other.

I have to co-ordinate moving our archives, our subscriber list, and
arrange for mail forwarding from the old utcvm.utc.edu addresses in
addition to changing the usenet/comp.sys.hp.mpe gateway, so details of
this will follow in the next few days. Hopefully the move will be as
transparent as possible *except* the listserv and hp3000-l host names
will change from utcvm.utc.edu to raven.utc.edu (DON'T CHANGE YET!).
You will need to change any address books/etc to reflect the new host.
We will provide auto-forwarding from the old addresses until at least
the end of the year when our machine physically goes away, and possibly
longer if we can feasibly alias utcvm to raven (other issues at stake).

Don't panic :) I plan to provide details later this week; this is just
a forewarning before the real move takes place to reduce the surprise
level. The worst problem I foresee is a possible loss of some posts to
the archives and to the newsgroup when the change actually occurs, but
it should (hopefully) rapidly stabilize.
