I still have many serial devices attached to DTC's here.  I am using serial over 
IP devices known as Lantronix UDS-1100.  This is a real slick way of being able 
to move any of your serial devices just about anywhere without all the cables.

I also use the Lantronix ETS8 which are 8 port serial over IP.  Very slick also.

I get the units from CDW at a decent price.
