Help installing a CDROM under hp/ux 9.05

I have an hp 712/80 that is currently running hp/ux 9.05.  I want to install
10.05 on it. I got the cd's from HP, but this machine does not currently
have a cdrom. I have an old external scsi cdrom laying around, so I
connected it.  When I go into sam the cdrom drive shows up as unused. I am
not sure what I have to do to get this drive installed. I checked out
docs.hp.com, but the documentation available is for hp/ux 10  & 11. Any help
would be appreciated.
