Samba 2.2.8a is available via supported, GR patches for MPE 6.5/7.0/7.5. This
release supports the encrypted password functionality that Win XP expects by
default.
Note that when using Samba encrypted passwords on MPE (this requires an
smb.conf modification), your Samba authentications no longer use MPE account
and user passwords. Instead you authenticate via a separate password file
called smbpasswd that is maintained by a command-line utility also called
smbpasswd.
