We do it all the time.

How you do it depends on the printer you intend to print the barcode on. If
the printer has a barcode font, from the HP3000 you simply send the escape
sequences to switch to that font and print it. We do barcodes on many
printers this way. On our Typhoon label printers there are special commands
and software to print the barcodes.

There are also software packages that do barcodes a little more universally
across printer types. We used to use one, but no longer have the need and I
forget the name. Chances are someone else on the list will give the names to
you if they have not already done so.

And yes, you can print barcodes in Word. Just search for "barcode font" on
the 'net. Install the barcode font on your PC. Select the barcode font and
type away. If I remember correctly, with some formats of barcodes you always
need to start and stop the barcode with a special character for it to work
right. So be sure to read the remade or documentation that comes with the
font.

Subject: [HP3000-L] Bar coding printing off of the hp3000

Hi

I wonder if anyone has done this before. I want to send information off of
the hp and be able to use the data to produce a nicely formatted document
which can be sent which contains a barcode. I have tried doing this in Word
but there does not appear to be any way to print a bar code out. Has anyone
done this before and it so how did you accomplish this.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Peterb
