Yes, but once when some "A%% H#!@? broke into my trusty old
'65 Baracuda and stole my 8-tracks, they couldn't get the tape
player out.  So they kicked it and busted out the face plate.
BUT.... it still played my tapes just fine.
I found that with some regular cleaning and keeping the tapes clean
and out of the hot sun, they were pretty reliable.

My it was just my good luck, or the Oreo cookies sacraficed to the
tape gods that helped.
