Here's a wee bit of a sticky problem: We have need to keep data and programs
originally collected and used on our HP1000 systems accessible *forever*.
<heavy sigh> So, as I see it, we can do one of the following:

1. Keep an HP1000 system around and under support for any ad hoc restores we
may need to do.
Cons: Expensive(!), plus the data would need to be "re-stored" onto newer
media to keep the media age low. Also, the tape drives are DDS-0 -- are
DDS-3/DLT drives available for RTE systems? (OK, I heard that snicker...)

2. Use a disaster-recovery agency's HP1000 system for any ad hoc
restores/program usage.
Cons: Still pretty durn expensive -- maybe more than option #1 -- and what
about the media age?

3. Find an HP1000 emulator which runs on either a PC or an HP3000 that we
can use with the data.
Cons: I've NO idea if such a beastie exists -- anyone know?

4. Convert the data for use on a PC or HP3000 versions of the original RTE
programs.
Cons: Dunno if such exists, and would it correctly reproduce the original
output form the original data?

Interesting dilemma, hey?

Thanks in advance for any assistance!
