This is what I responded to Mr. Finley as well. There are "general"
applications that cross all vertical markets. These include payroll,
personnel and general finance. In addition we need more applications in
every vertical market. Having a choice is essential to the decision making
process. "These applications are available" sounds so much better than,
"This is the application." Additionally, if the developers are kept on
their toes then their products will be better, less expensive and
enhancements will be delivered sooner.

As Ms. Bridges-Fowler points out, application developers see the HP e3000 as
a dead end. We must bring this to everyone at HP's attention. HP can not be
allowed to hide behind what they have had in the past. They can not be
allowed to be content with what they are have now. They must be shown that
the future is not looking that bright. They can trot out all the success
stories they want, AMISYS, Open Skies, ManMan, Smith Gardner, Mitchell
Humphries et al, it is not enough.

We can add all the bells and whistles we want to the O/S but without
applications to run on the platform what good are they?
As the son of a geneticist I learned at young age what happens to a species
when the gene pool gets to shallow. In this case we all need to be "Pro
Choice." It is our only choice.
