For the most part our systems are connected to other sites with leased
line/frame connections. This makes the routing and transfers of files just
fine. We have some sites, which are connected via VPN through the Internet
to a WAN site. This works fine for the file transfers (most are done via
FTP) from sites in the WAN to these VPN sites except (you knew this was
coming) for transfers between VPN sites. Our networking staff is hesitant
to create another VPN between these sites and would like to have me do the
transfers with a hop at a site in the WAN. I can ftp to this central site
with no problem the issue is how do I have the sending VPN site fire off a
transfer of the file to the other VPN site? I could use a stream file for
every possible case of transfer but it would be better if I could ftp and
append a command to a type of log file and then the central site could just
execute the transfer on a scheduled basis. Is there a way of sending a file
and appending it via ftp? I haven't try but thought I would ask first.
