o SMA

SMA is a vendor that has recently adopted MPE/iX
into it's repetoire of supported operating systems
in it's enterprise management product. SMA has
been around for 20 years.

o Will Formation do Chinese?

Representatives of ROC Software say that
Formation will "probably" have the ability
to handle double-byte input data within a year.

o No Cover Charge to Visit Cognos

I was not charged a fee to visit the Cognos
booth and even got a free T-shirt, pin and
mini-CD.

I was intrigued by Cognos' Powerhouse-Web
capability with ye olde Quick. For current
Powerhouse customers this may be a viable
alternative instead of Cold Fusion. It's
been available since 8.29, I must have
missed it last year. It generates web
pages that you can do traditional field
entry, with radio buttons, pull down menus
check boxes, etc.

I was also referred to the "MULTI" program
parameter in in Quick which is the support
mechanism for double-byte data (a.k.a.
Chinese.)

o Wirt and the latest iteration of QCTerm.

Saw Wirt at the QCTerm booth and saw a pre-demo
of Thursdays demo. Various improvements made
over last year and explains why there has been
no QCTerm updates for 7 months. Please be
aware that the hand out that will be given out
on Thursday is not the final version. The
Full Manual will be mailed to those that
request it.

Note Adager still has not reprinted any cubes
(but they had spheres.)

o Merant

A vendor solution that allows you to WEB enable
your legacy apps. Uses ODBC. Of course my question
was answered first off, works with:
Unix, HP-UX, Windows NT, Sun Solaris, ... NOT MPE/iX.

o Lund

I met with Bob Lund, spoke with him about my prior
book idea. Those that stated earlier they'd like
to help, please show your hand.

o NHCSI

Not one of HP's "Blessed Baker's Dozen + 1"
authorized HP e3000 resellers, therefore limited
to HP 9000s, however they still have the best
free vendor supplied T-shirt, "got hp?" I fully
changed shirts in the middle of the convention
floor, and they took a picture of me. Expect to
see it on my Empire web page.

o Ted Dasher Inc.

I finally ran out of room in my official
convention bag Ted Dasher Inc. also had free
cloth tote bags. What they do? Oh yeah,
they supply and repair HP equipment. (Also
not one of HP's "Blessed Baker's Dozen + 1")

o Smith-Gardner

A lot's been said about Smith-Gardner already.
Their product called Ecometry, with various
suites for web enablement, looked interesting
and seems appropriate new or bolt-on to an
existing app on your HP e3000.
