James,
Have you checked?
NETTOOL.NET.SYSNAMEADDRROUTGATELIST

We had to replace our gateway router. During the changeover we altered the ip
addresses of our network printers. This morning we returned them to their
original values. On both occasions NPCONFIG.PUB.SYS was altered to suit. Now
the HP3000 spooled network printers stop immediately when started.
When the printers are pinged from the HP3000 this is the message that results:
:ping 192.168.216.52
-------- PING/XL (ICMP Echo Requestor) : Version B0705000 --------
PARAMETERS INPUT:
----------------
Remote IP address in hex : $C0A8D834
Number of packets : Default of continuous stream
Number of data bytes : Default of 64 bytes
---- PING $C0A8D834 : 64 byte packets ----
Destination node does not exist: error # 4
Unknown node
However, the HP3000 can ping other hosts on the same network.
:ping 192.168.216.105
-------- PING/XL (ICMP Echo Requestor) : Version B0705000 --------
PARAMETERS INPUT:
----------------
Remote IP address in hex : $C0A8D869
Number of packets : Default of continuous stream
Number of data bytes : Default of 64 bytes
---- PING $C0A8D869 : 64 byte packets ----
64 byte(s) from $C0A8D869 : icmp_seq = 1, time = 3 ms
64 byte(s) from $C0A8D869 : icmp_seq = 2, time = 3 ms
64 byte(s) from $C0A8D869 : icmp_seq = 3, time = 3 ms
The host at 192.168.216.105 can ping both the printer and the HP3000.
This occurred earlier when we changed the printer IPs and it eventually cleared
up, without intervention to the best of my knowledge. However, I need to get
this resolved now as it is negatively impacting operations.
I have cleared the ARP cache on the gateway router. So the issue is either
with the switch or with the HP. I have power-cycled the switch without
resolving the issue. That leaves the HP3000 network stack as the primary
suspect.
What is happening and how to I resolve this?
