Greg: Crucial question is what software should be on the system at what
version. I've bought and sold no end of HP hardware and the value of ANY
HP-3000 is driven by the software licenses. I bought a HP-UX box T520
recently which is the hardware equiv of a 996. My T520 is loaded. I paid
next to nothing for it. It has 10 CPUs, 1.5GB of memory, lots of HPPB boards
and a bunch of FW-SCSI drives.

As a starting point, the 256MB boards in it will sell if I'm lucky for $500
each. Think about the software and then the specifics of the drives... if
what your management wants is essentially an appraisal, then i can help with
that.
