The 948 can be booted from external SCSI disks (we have setup several
sites). The key is to set the primary boot path to the new ldev 1 address.
I would recommend removing the old HP-IB drives to prevent any type of
conflict.

The question I have is whether 6.5 will support the CIO SCSI. My
understanding is that the 6.5 release of the OS will not support CIO cards
and as such does not work with the 922, 925 and 980 series of processors.
Hopefully, someone can provide the official word on this.

Regards,
Steve
