I was invited to participate in the show and I took advantage of the
opportunity. I had to radically change the scheduling of my
responsibilities and my regular Adager development routine was set back by
about 2 weeks (not to mention family activities and other worthwhile
items). Nevertheless, given the fact that the potential benefits to the
HP3000 and IMAGE were of a significant enough magnitude, I packed my bags
and flew to New York. The worst part of the whole thing was that I had to
buy a jacket and a tie to comply with the show's silly "business" dress
code... Arghh :-)

That was almost 3 years ago but I still remember Ron Seybold's nice
refreshments in the shade under a large tree. What a wonderful HP3000
community event that was! It was great to see many fierce competitors
working, side by side and with children in tow, on the implementation of
Wirt's fantastic idea. I can assure you that working on the TV show
mentioned in http://www.adager.com/ExecForumAirings.html was a lot easier
than what Wirt and Valerie Atmar had to do for the Giant Poster.

In this particular case, even though Hewlett-Packard (at some rarefied
corporate level) is one of the sponsors, I don't believe anybody at HP had
any clue that the HP3000 was going to be "featured" until last week, when I
sent private messages to Harry Sterling and several of my friends at HP.
In fact, I kept the whole surprise under wraps. I hate to pre-announce
things (whether software or anything else :-)
