Gilles ... would you please expand on your references to "timing" and
"easily dealt with" as they apply to user logging process restarts? I've
always required that a START RECOVERY be specified in any corporate system
startup documentation which details system failure recovery because I was
badly "bitten" long ago by not doing so. I'm curious to know what your
slant is on this.

Of course you can place a "START RECOVERY" (or simply "START") instead of a
START NORECOVERY in the autoboot file - and it's really a matter of
preference.
There are benefits and drawbacks with both alternatives.

The problem with log processes not properly re-starting is simply one of
