The problem of not being able to go to certain web sites can be resolved
using a combination of CWSHREDDER, HIJACKTHIS and SPYBOT SEARCH and DESTROY.
Here is a link that will give you access to all three:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php?cat=sp#det
Most likely you will have to download these on a working machine, cut a cd
and use it to install them on the infected computer. The spyware/trojans
you are infected with will prevent you from downloading them from the web.
Also you must use spybot search & destroy 1.3. Any earlier version is
susceptible to some spyware/trojans (they kill it as soon as it starts).
Re-boot and install/run them in "Safe Mode". Also use Spybot's advanced
mode to remove unknown startup items from the "System startup" feature.
I just did this to a customers laptop last night. When I was finished it
had removed over 200 spyware/trojan hooks.

PS: If you are adamant about starting over by trashing the system and
re-installing windows. You should be able to set the boot sequence to boot
from the CD (standard XP Pro install cd) and answer the questions to replace
the existing partition.

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT:Please does anyone have a reasonable way to
format the C drive
I have a Dell system that is so bugged that I want to just format the hard
drive and start from scratch.
Optiplex 2,4gh 7 months old... Wife insisted on taking care by herself and
let Norton Run out. I bought SystemWorks2004 and attempted to load and
update on-line and the bugs will not allow me to go to ANY Symantec sight.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Long and short, calling Symantec is a challenge for time that I would rather
spend re-building my system.
It has Windows XP professional
Any advise would be appreciated
