Whoever wrote all that selftest garbage that the Emeralds go through clearly
wanted the system to be impressive to current mainframe users :-)
 
I was told once that there is something you can do (in debug I presume)
that will prevent the system from going through the 20 minute selftest
process the next time the system is booted.  Unfortunately this also
prevents taking a memory dump.  You might want to ask your CE (or
perhaps someone on the list knows) how to do this.
