If you're going to SSH through a *nix machine, you may as well setup an SSH
tunnel and then run Telnet over the tunnel, I believe you can use the free
SSH client for windows known as "Putty" to do this. Of course on any other
operating system you can just use ssh. I actually use this technique for
sending out bound email when I am out of the office, I have my email client
configured to setup a ssh tunnel to the mail server and then put SMTP over
the tunnel.
