I'm curious if this process has worked for others when dealing with disk
drives. Every time I've tried it the process failed because it could not
find the drive. My process now it to add the hardware, boot the system, and
then configure it dynamically.

Thoughts? Comments?

Unless I am missing something obvious, you should not even have to
take down the system for adding the drives to an HASS enclosure. So
the steps would be something in the line of...

 - set proper SCSI ids
 - plug in the new drives
 - use IOCONFIG to add LDEVs
 - use VOLUTIL to NEWVOL or NEWSET

It might be a good idea to first run the drives in a NEWSET for a
while, exercise them a little (and maybe also use that extra volume
set to play/exercise with seldom-used VOLUTIL commands or NEWACCT
options like ONVS/HOMEVS) and finally scratchvol them and add them
to the desired volume set.
