While I agree that Shawn was not making a comment that was in any way
racist (it's clear that he was simply turning the mayor's own
ludicrous phrase against him), I have to admit some fascination on
this new-found correlation between political sentiment and racism. Up
to this point I had not realized that Conservatism was
contraindicitive of racism. I had recalled people of all political
leanings suffering from the blight of unreasoned racial attitudes, but
perhaps that was just me recalling people I thought of as
Conservative, like Bob Jones or Strom Thurmond, and confusing them
with racist liberals like Bob Byrd. My apologies, Conservatives, I
had not realized that your political affiliation acted as proof
against racist leanings.
