the war on drugs; un-winable ??

Many years ago when I was attending a police academy we had DEA agents come
in and present a class. I will NEVER forget the statement made by the agent
teaching the class. He said, we have the technology, money, man power, and
political resources to stamp out the drug trafficking in America. The
reason we don't stop it is because it would put "US" out of work.

I was shocked to hear such a statement but after working in the law
enforcement arena for a brief period I soon realized the technology was
there. This was some 22 years ago, I'm sure the technology and resources
have improved since then.

these statements are my own opinion, not my employers.

Subject: [HP3000-L] OT: Unwinable Wars

Millions/billions/trillions of our tax dollars are going down the drain
to special interests so that our chickenhawk leaders can fight the
"War on Drugs" and the "War on Terrorism" both of which are unwinable.

Why can't we get leaders to start a "War on Governmental & Private
White Collar Crime".

Of course, with our current leaders, this war would also fail for
obvious reasons.

(I chose the phrase "obvious reasons" as a challenge to Alfredo.) :-)
