Thanks for all the responses, both public and private, they were most
enlightening.

My management was a bit wary about dropping HP support and going with a 3rd
party. But when they saw the price estimates and comments from this list,
their concerns have eased a great deal.

It is a bit sad to cut the final ties with HP after so many years. But while
hardware support has not been a problem, HP has made it pretty clear that
they do not wish to provide software support for the 3000 and will do so
only grudgingly.
