Given all the migration talk and talk about COBOL, I thought I'd tell you
about a recent addition to our Kobol (www.thekompany.com/products/kobol)
application, a COBOL compiler and IDE for Linux and Windows that generates
true, native executables (works on the 3000 for that matter). The price
for the compiler is just $59.95, the debugger is optional for another
$24.95 and we've just released our MPE (HP 3000) compatibility plug in for
the product (http://www.thekompany.com/products/kobol/mpehp3000/) that
provides support for all the HP extensions to the COBOL language, this
includes things like macros and such, the price is $199.95.

Please note the Kobol package does NOT contain an MPE intrinsics emulation
library. The compiler will correctly translate CALL INTRINSIC constructs to
their C equivalent in the intermediate C-code. However, an MPE intrinsics
emulation library must be provided by the user. Also, the program will
include the file 'intrinsics.h'. This file must also be provided by the user.

Kobol is project oriented and has integrated CVS support and project
management as well as syntax highlighting. Upgrades for the compiler and
IDE are free. We've almost finished a new plug in that will provide syntax
support for the SQL Preprocessor in Kobol that will provide access to
MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, Oracle and ODBC, should be out at the end of this
month, or at least in beta. And to round it off, we have a number of
customers using Kobol with HP Eloquence on both Linux and Windows with no
problems at all.

<end plug>
