Fellow list members,

We have VistaPlus by Quest on a Unix server, where we 'push' reports from
our HP3000. Recently, its internal disc crashed and we are trying to
recover. For reasons that I will not mention we don't have a recent
backup. All of our reports (documents) are actually on an external drive
which was not damaged. Does anyone know of a way of re-building the
'document' database (docs.dir, docs.pag, doclinks.dir, docklins.pag,
document.seq) by recursively traveling down the document directories?

I 'dumped' the beginning of a few of the report files and noticed that the
'capture' statement (the one specified on the HP3000 side) is prefixed in
each document. That fact leads me to believe that a 'recovery' utility
should exist or at least could be built. The support folks indicate that
I'd have to 're-capture' all the reports again (something that cannot be
done).

Any information on this area would be appreciated.

Regards
Paul Christidis
