Just the entry in IODEVACC or IODFAULT does NOT mean that HP
already supports the drive; sometimes these config files changes
make it faster, than the adaptions that are needed to the IO
drivers.
I know there are plans to support certain (and only after they have
been thoroughly tested) OEM discs on the HP3000.

, but not in terms of firmware !
I see enough (and remember enough problems we had with customers
using Exxx discs) reasons not to, if you rely on the "bulletproof-
ness" of MPE running your business.
Again, before you do the above, make sure HP supports the drive
and you have the necessary driver (might be some patch).
 
IF you like to experiment, I would at least suggest to try those
on a separate user volume set and maybe on a separate HW path
than your other (supported) discs.
