Brian Duncombe has already mentioned on 3000-L availability
of the above for SigCS.  Naturally I leave other SIG leaders to
comment or not as they see fit.  The SIGIMAGE perspective:

AFAIR, I was first made aware on 26 Jan 00 by message from
[log in to unmask] that Interex had requested 3kworld.com to
set up message boards for all (or at least most) Interex SIGs.
At the time I replied to that message I thought I was replying to
both Brian@3kworld and Interex.  But in looking at the headers
again, it now appears only Interex may have gotten my earlier
reply.  Whatever; all IMAGE users please note:


It's great 3kworld.com and Client Systems, LLC are focusing
on and helping push the 3000 to the wider world;  the more the
better.  And (as Brian already pointed out), a number of SIGs
may find this message board service to be helpful and useful.

However, readers will recall we reached a consensus some time
ago that the best "one-stop" single email list, message board,
and everything else for IMAGE users is 3000-L.  Since everyone (well, 99
percent, at least) that has a 3000 uses IMAGE, feeling
of 3000-L was that we did not want to fragment our discussion
by using multiple electronic media as the "official" SIGIMAGE
message board;  regardless of sponsor.

Anyway, it appears the 3kworld.com "SIG Image Message
Board" has been active since 24 Jan 00, so wanted to be sure
all IMAGE users were aware that unless and until changed by a
majority vote of the membership, I and other members of the
SIGIMAGE Executive Committee (SIEC) will continue to treat
3000-L as the only "official" IMAGE discussion & etc. list;  i.e.:
Most if not all members of the SIEC are very time-limited, and in
the interest of efficiency we would like to monitor only one
SIGIMAGE list on a regular basis.  Therefore if anyone posts a
desperate cry for help or etc. to the 3kworld list, the SIEC may
not be aware of your problem.

All IMAGE users are of course completely free to post anything
they want to the 3kworld SIG Image list if 3kworld keeps it online.
Just be aware that if you might need a response from members
of the SIEC, you should continue to post your queries to 3000-L..
