I have to add my £ 0.02 to this thread.

I bought a 4 led torch before going camping last summer.
It produces a strong white light from a single AA battery.
I picked up a "spent" AA battery that my daughter had
used on her Discman and put it in the led torch.
It lasted the whole of the 2 weeks camping which included
considerable use and is still going on that battery now!
I also bought a 12 led lantern for camping and it lasted
well and gave a great light in the tent. It still has its
first batteries in it. I got a bike headlight for my son's
bike and it is three leds and very bright. The advantage is
that it is very light (unheavy) and it also is still on
its first battery although my son has used it a lot.
Amazing technology.

Cheers,

John Dunlop
