What I fear most by spreading such rumors in an uncontrolled and
irresponsible manner is that if there is sufficient background noise, the
rumor might somehow become true.

In my country, we have a saying that goes like "If you want to get rid of
your dog, tell it has rabies"

Or, in our specific case, "If you want to get rid of MPE, tell the world MPE
is dead".

Now, ask yourself, who the heck has interest to kill off MPE ?
