Well, we've made a few changes and have been watching our system for a
bit <heh> to see how much XM is impacting us now, and it's been as quiet
as a mouse.

Large kudos to those who suggested spool file issues, since the only
change we've made (well, <sigh> the only one _I'm_ aware of anyway) was
to get Extremely Aggressive with our spool file management and
archive/purge the ones we don't immediately need. This change alone
seems to have done the trick. So, you may well ask, what kind of a
change was that? Well, we average 600-900 spool files at any given time
without pruning, generating about 300-500 a day. By periodically
running a script to keep the spool file head count to around 10 (yes,
TEN), the system is working much happier. Go figure.

Now we've run this higher spool file count for some time, so I don't
know why it suddenly became an issue, but I do know we're beginning to
see the wall on this system too, so that might be related. Dunno.
*DO* know that this problem seems to be fixed though, so I can head back
over to project work (yet) again.

Thanks for the help!!
Curtis
