...which reminded me of where I had seen that before.  There is some kind of
problem on MPE/iX 5.0 affecting tar, lzw, AND mover, that we never resolved.
It results in (drum roll) TRUNCATED FILES extracted from *any* of these
archive types.  If you're still on 5.0, I think you are out of luck (we never
got it to work right -- that's why the IPROF 97 tape [last year] contained
most of the files unpacked.)

If you are on 5.5, send me your mailing address and I'll send you an IPROF'98
(the "latest and greatest") tape to try out, no charge.  I've installed it
here, and used perl recently with it, so it works on at least one system.
