Jim wrote in part: "...The current betting is on either a liberal minority
with NDP support or a conservative minority with BQ support. The later
eventuality will probably destroy the conservatives as a viable national
party for a generation of subsequent elections, so I am of mixed emotion as
to whether I wish this upon them or not."

Well, I am not one to argue but I think you may be incorrect in your
predictions. The Canadian blogs I read are talking about the veritable
implosion if the Liberal Party in Canada, especially due to a backlash for
its most recent ads attacking the Canadian Military and another one
attacking the US.

From yesterday's Toronto Star I point you to:

Title: Conservatives Support Surges In Quebec.

Some of the blogs are predicting a Conservative majority, with perhaps the
BQ as the official opposition. Perhaps Canada might awaken for its torpor
and actually want to shed its banana republic image. Time will tell, only a
few days to go.

BTW, here is a link to a story about the recent suicide bombing attack
against a group of Canadians in Afghanistan.

Title: Wounded medic rushed to aid fellow soldiers.

Just so you know, he along with the others were immediately medivaced by US
Army helicopters and are now at the Landstuhl Medical Center in Ramstein,
Germany in the best US military hospital outside the US. It would seem that
even with the current Prime Minister of Canada badmouthing the US and
especially its commander in chief, the evil American military immediately
picked up the wounded Canadian soldiers and took them to the best military
hospital in the world where they are being well take care of.

Those evil US soldiers, will they stop at nothing?
