Let me emphasize that you should not skip the "update to 4.0" step.
That update will perform some internal data structure conversions.
The update to 5.0 already assumes that those conversions have been
done.  If you update from 2.2 directly to 5.0, you'll miss the
conversions and will wind up with a big mess on your hands.
