Danger, Will Robinson, ABLE DANGER.

The US-team as you so quaintly call it was named ABLE DANGER.  If the list
will put its mind back to the late 1990s when we all learned about and even
discussed the massive data mining operations that the US had ongoing, one
may remember the name Carnivore among others.

Using computers and sophisticated data mining techniques, the ABLE DANGER
team put together by the US military, found in the open domain (ie
non-secret stuff,) and identified Mohammed Atta and several other 9/11
hijackers, and placed them in the US.  This information was NOT presented to
the FBI, as it was prevented from being given to the proper authorities by
lawyers in the, are you ready?, wait for it... Clinton White House and
lawyers in the Clinton Defense Department.  Also, Jamie Gorelick, the
assistant AG (under Janet Reno,) had created a wall that prevented the
information about terrorists from being shared by different agencies.

In order to make sure the Clinton Administration would not be blamed for
their repeated intelligence failures, Jamie Gorelick was put on the 911
commission to quash any attempts to find out about the Able Danger successes
and the failure to get the information to the FBI.  It worked, almost
perfectly.  Re. Curt Weldon (an evil Republican from Pennsylvania) has
resurrected the story and is pursuing it.  The MSM, of course, has mostly
ignored it; it could not be traced back to Bush.
